Guyana Folk Festival 2006 was the
most ambitious program organized by the Guyana Cultural Association.
It was very well received and that success is due in no small
measure to your unselfish support. For this, the Guyana Cultural
Association wishes to express its sincerest thanks.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR
SUPPORT
2006, marked the 40th anniversary of
Guyana's independence and the Guyana Cultural Association organized
a program of events to celebrate this important milestone in
Guyanese and Caribbean history. Starting on May 26, 2006 and ending
on September 3, 2006, the association organized under the the theme
"Carifesta 72 Revisited: Celebrating Our Caribbean Heritage, a range
of events. The events included a
Drama Festival, a
Film Festival,
and the annual Awards Ceremony,
Symposium, and
Family Fun Day. These
events contributed to the rekindling of the spirit of Caribbean
creativity and solidarity that blossomed during the first Carifesta
which was organized by the people of Guyana in 1972.

We have received very positive
feedback and several requests to keep the drama and film festivals
for future folk festivals. It is clear that Guyana Folk Festival has
become an important moment in the celebration of Caribbean cultural
heritage in New York.
The Guyana Cultural Association is
very thankful for your support and look forward to maintaining our
relationships in the future. Again, thank you for helping to make
Guyana Folk Festival 2006 a success.
Sincerely,
Malcolm Hall, President
