Support for Guyanese Artistes:
Sale of Products at Guyana Folk Festival Events

Guyana Folk Festival Committee (GFF) is very pleased with the response to the e-mail of August 8, 2005 offering opportunities for the sale of books, DVDs, and CDs during Guyana Folk Festival 2005.

GFF would like to make your products available at ALL the events, including the Awards Ceremony (Wednesday, August 31), "Come to my Kwe Kwe (Friday, September 2, 2005), Symposium (Saturday, September 3, 2005), "The Great Drum Beats of Guyana" (Saturday evening, September 3, 2005), and Family Fun Day (Sunday, September 4, 2005). GFF WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PRODUCTS AFTER FAMILY FUN DAY

What follows are the details:

Responsibilities of Artistes

  • You will be responsible for bringing your books and CDs to the event of your choice and collecting all unsold units at the end of the event. Should you desire to have your books and CDs made available at all events, then please be prepared to pick up the unsold units at the end of Family Fun Day, Sunday, September 4, 2005.

  • All books and CDs should be delivered in a clearly labeled box with name of artiste and number of products included. Artistes will inventory their products and give the list to GFF with pricing visible on each product for sale.

  • We request that your book or CD prices be in round numbers so as to reduce the need for a lot of change making.

  • GFF will request 10 percent contribution to offset costs (e.g. overhead, logistics, staffing, promotion and sales)

  • By providing their products to GFF for sale, artistes agree to the 10 per cent contribution to offset aforementioned costs

  • Artistes also agree to pick up all unsold products at the end of Family Fun Day, September 4, 2005.

  • Artistes are required to send address for payment due/cheques to GFF before the end of Family Fun Day, Sunday, September 4, 2005

Responsibilities of Guyana Folk Festival

  • GFF will be responsible for the transactions.

  • GFF will solicit pre-orders as soon as authors/artistes respond to this call with their list of products, price and brief description of content.

  • GFF will return all unsold items to artistes at end of Family Fun Day, September 4, 2005.

  • GFF will make every effort to pay artistes at end of Family Fun Day, but no later than 3-5 days after the end of the Guyana Folk Festival 2005.

Publicity and Promotion

There will be a display of the covers of Guyanese books, DVDs, and CDs. To help with this, we are asking you to send a laminated, color copy of your book(s) DVD, CD cover(s) (do not exceed 8.5 x 11 inches) plus a brief description of content to:

The Guyana Folk Festival Secretariat
1368 E 89th Street, Floor # 2
Brooklyn, New York 11236

Please send the copy by August 24, 2005.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send to Muriel Glasgow, muriella@worldnet.att.net the list of books, DVDs, and CDs you intend to offer for sale by August 15, 2005.

We look forward a continuing and successful working relationship with you, the artistes...
